10 Days Imperial Cities & Desert Grand Tour
The Complete Circuit: Imperial Cities, The Blue Pearl & The Sahara

Tour Overview
This 10-day Morocco itinerary from Casablanca is the definitive “Grand Tour,” designed to cover 80% of the kingdom’s highlights without the exhaustion of a rushed bus trip. Starting at the Atlantic, you will trace the Roman, Arab, and Berber history of the North before crossing the Middle Atlas into the deep Sahara. Unlike standard packages that treat Chefchaouen and Volubilis as mere photo stops, our route dedicates ample time to the Blue City and the Roman Mosaics. You will experience the spiritual depth of Fes, the silence of the Erg Chebbi dunes, and the vibrant energy of Marrakech, all while traveling in a private 4×4 with a dedicated local expert.

Detailed Itinerary
The Journey
"Your private driver welcomes you at Mohammed V International Airport (CMN). We begin with a visit to the Hassan II Mosque, a masterpiece of artisanal craftsmanship built partially over the Atlantic Ocean. We then drive north to Rabat, the political capital and a UNESCO World Heritage site. You will explore the Kasbah of the Udayas, a 12th-century fortress with blue and white walls, and the Hassan Tower, the minaret of an incomplete mosque intended to be the world's largest."

The Journey
"We leave the imperial plains and ascend into the Rif Mountains. The landscape transforms from olive groves to rugged limestone peaks. We arrive in Chefchaouen by early afternoon, maximizing your time in the "Blue City." The afternoon is free for a self-guided walking tour. Recommended stops include the Ras el-Maa waterfall, the Spanish Mosque (for a panoramic sunset view), and the central Plaza Uta el-Hammam dominated by the red-walled Kasbah."

The Journey
"A journey through Morocco's ancient history. We drive south to Volubilis (Walili), the southern outpost of the Roman Empire. You will see the Capitoline Temple, the Basilica, and mosaics dating back to the 2nd century AD. We continue to Meknes, the Ismaili capital, to stand before Bab Mansour, often cited as the most beautiful gate in North Africa. We arrive in Fes in the late afternoon."

The Journey
"Today is dedicated to the intellectual and spiritual capital of Morocco. Your certified local guide will lead you through the 9,000 alleyways of Fes el-Bali. Key Entities Visited: Al Quaraouiyine University: Founded in 859 AD by Fatima al-Fihri, it is the oldest existing university in the world. Bou Inania Madrasa: A masterpiece of Marinid architecture with intricate cedar carving and zellige. Chouara Tanneries: View the ancient leather dyeing pits from a panoramic terrace. Nejjarine Museum: The museum of wooden arts and crafts."

The Journey
"We depart at 08:00 AM for the grand crossing of the Middle Atlas Mountains. Our first stop is Ifrane, known as "Little Switzerland" for its alpine architecture and snow-capped cedar trees. We visit the Azrou Cedar Forest to observe the endangered Barbary Macaque monkeys. After lunch in Midelt (the Apple Capital), we cross the Tizi n'Talghamt pass and descend into the Ziz Valley, a massive geological fault lined with thousands of date palms. We reach Merzouga before sunset, switching to camels for a trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes."

The Journey
"Unlike "express" tours, we dedicate a full day to the Sahara ecosystem. We travel by 4x4 to the village of Khamlia to listen to Gnawa music, a spiritual tradition with sub-Saharan roots. We drive off-road across the Hamada (black desert) to visit semi-nomadic Berber families, sharing tea and learning about their lifestyle. In the afternoon, you can try Sandboarding or simply relax by the camp fire."

The Journey
"We wake early for the sunrise over the Algerian border. Leaving the dunes, we head west to Tinghir, an ancient Jewish spice-trading post. We drive up to the Todra Gorges, where 300-meter vertical limestone cliffs attract climbers from around the world. We finish the day in the Dades Valley, driving the famous "snake road" switchbacks to view the Monkey Fingers rock formations at sunset."

The Journey
"We travel the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through the Valley of Roses (Kelaat M'Gouna). We stop in Ouarzazate to see the Taourirt Kasbah and the Atlas Film Studios. The highlight is the Ksar of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and filming location for Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Finally, we cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260m), descending into the Haouz plain to reach Marrakech."

The late afternoon is free, perhaps to visit the Majorelle Garden."
