12 Days Morocco Photography Expedition: Chasing the Light
The Golden Hour Route: From Blue Cities to Sahara Dunes.

Tour Overview
This expedition is not a tour; it is a visual anthology of Morocco designed for the lens. Unlike standard itineraries that visit monuments at high noon (harsh light), our schedule is inverted. We sleep near the locations to capture the Blue Hour in Chefchaouen, the Golden Hour on the Erg Chebbi dunes, and the dramatic shadows of the Fes tanneries. Led by a guide who understands “composition” and “leading lines,” we prioritize slow travel. You will have exclusive access to portrait sessions with local Berbers and private rooftops for cityscape pans, ensuring your portfolio captures the true soul of the Maghreb.
Highlights
Dades "Tisdrine" Curves: Shoot long-exposure car trails on the iconic zig-zag road at twilight.
Hassan II Symmetry: Guided tripod session capturing the geometric Zellige tilework against the Atlantic.
Chefchaouen Blue Hour: Hike to the Spanish Mosque for the definitive panoramic dusk shot.
Gnawa Dune Portrait: Environmental shoot with a musician in white robes against orange Erg Chebbi sand.
Place Seffarine: Capture the kinetic motion and steam of copper beaters in the Fes Medina.
Sahara Milky Way: Astro-photography session in a deep desert dark-sky zone (zero light pollution).
Jemaa el-Fnaa Rooftop: Private balcony access for slow-shutter shots of the chaotic night market.
Fes Tanneries Terrace: Exclusive private access for high-angle shots of the colorful dye vats without crowds.
Aït Benhaddou Golden Hour: Shoot the mud-brick Ksar from the riverbed as the sun sets, enhancing the clay texture.
Cedar Forest Wildlife: Telephoto session with wild Barbary Macaques in the ancient trees of Azrou.

Detailed Itinerary
The Journey
"Upon arrival at Mohammed V Airport (CMN), your driver (experienced with camera gear logistics) transfers you to the hotel. Late Afternoon Shoot: We head immediately to the Hassan II Mosque. This is the only time the western sun hits the green Zellige tiles directly, creating vibrant contrast against the blue Atlantic. We focus on Leading Lines along the arcades and Scale by framing a lone worshiper against the massive titanium doors."

The Journey
"Drive north to Rabat. Brief stop at the Kasbah of the Udayas to warm up your 'Blue City' palette. Arrival in Chefchaouen by late afternoon. Sunset Shoot: We hike 20 minutes to the Spanish Mosque on the hill. From here, you capture the definitive panoramic cityscape of the blue medina nestled in the Rif Mountains as the city lights flicker on during the Blue Hour (civil twilight)."

The Journey
"06:00 AM: Dawn Patrol. We hit the empty streets of the Medina (specifically Calle El Asri) before the tour buses arrive. Technical Focus: Capturing the contrast between the cool blue walls and the warm tungsten streetlights. We look for cats, locals in djellabas, and colorful powder pigments for Macro shots. Midday: Siesta (the light is too harsh). Evening: Night photography in Plaza Uta el-Hammam."

The Journey
""Drive south to Volubilis (Roman Ruins). Photo Op: We frame the Triumphal Arch and the Basilica columns against the rolling green Zerhoun hills. Use a Polarizer filter here to pop the blue sky against the stone. Continue to Fes. Sunset: We head to the Merenid Tombs on the hill for a wide-angle panorama of the Fes Medina (the largest car-free zone in the world) at dusk.""

The Journey
"Morning: Exclusive access to a private terrace overlooking the Chouara Tanneries. We shoot the honeycomb of dye vats from above (Birds-Eye View). Afternoon: We dive into the Souks. Key Shoot: Place Seffarine (Copper Beaters). The filtered light through the smoke and the rhythmic motion of the artisans is perfect for Shutter Priority shots to show movement. We also visit a traditional weaving loom."

The Journey
"We leave the city for the Middle Atlas Mountains. Stop: The Cedar Forest of Azrou. We spend an hour with the Barbary Macaques. Lens Choice: Bring your 70-200mm telephoto. We aim for tight portraits of the monkeys in the ancient trees, blurring the background (Bokeh) to eliminate distractions. Overnight in the apple capital, Midelt."

The Journey
"Drive through the Ziz Valley, capturing the graphic patterns of thousands of date palms from the canyon rim. Arrival in Merzouga. We transfer to 4x4s. Golden Hour: We hike up a high dune in Erg Chebbi. Technique: We look for S-Curves in the dune ridges and use the low angle of the sun to emphasize the texture of the sand ripples (side-lighting)."

The Journey
"Sunrise: Silhouette shots of the camel caravan against the rising sun. Day: We arrange a private session with a Gnawa Musician in white robes. We use the orange sand as a clean background for stark, colorful portraits. Night: Astrophotography. We drive deeper into the desert (Galactic Core visibility). We teach/assist with settings: wide aperture (f/2.8), high ISO (3200+), 20-second exposure."

The Journey
"Morning shoot at the Todra Gorges. We use a wide-angle lens (16-35mm) to capture the verticality of the 300m cliffs with the river below. Drive to the Dades Valley. The Hero Shot: We set up tripods at the famous lookout point for the Tisdrine Zig-Zag Road. We wait for twilight to capture the Light Trails of cars winding up the canyon walls."

The Journey
"Drive the 'Road of 1,000 Kasbahs'. Stop at Skoura Oasis to shoot the Kasbah Amridil (featured on the 50 Dhs note). Arrival at Aït Benhaddou (UNESCO). Golden Hour: We cross the riverbed. The goal is to capture the Ksar reflecting in the water (if available) or the warm glow of the mud-brick against the deep blue sky. It’s the Gladiator view."

The Journey
"We cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka pass. We stop for dramatic landscape shots of the winding roads and snow-capped peaks (in winter). Arrival in Marrakech. Evening: We access a reserved balcony café overlooking Jemaa el-Fnaa. This is the only way to get a clean, long-exposure shot of the food stalls' smoke and the movement of the crowds without being jostled."

The Journey
"Morning shoot at the Majorelle Garden. We focus on the clash of 'Majorelle Blue' and 'Lemon Yellow' colors. Private transfer to Marrakech (RAK) or Casablanca (CMN) airport, ensuring your memory cards are full and your equipment is safe."
