How a private driver-guide works in Morocco, what is included, what it costs and how to plan your route with us.
A private driver in Morocco is a driver-guide with an air-conditioned 4x4 who drives only your group, door to door and at your pace, from a day trip out of Marrakech to two weeks across the country. Every MoroccoMagics tour works this way: private transport, an English-speaking driver-guide and pick-up at your riad, hotel or airport, with prices per person for two travellers sharing from $45 for a day trip.
This page explains what is included, what it costs and the routes our drivers run most, so you can choose a tour or ask us to plan one.
The vehicle, fuel and tolls, an English-speaking driver-guide and door-to-door pick-up; on multi-day tours, accommodation too.
Our tours use a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado or similar air-conditioned 4x4, with child seats on request, and the vehicle and driver-guide are for your group only. Multi-day tours include accommodation, and desert nights include dinner and breakfast at the camp. In the medinas of Fes and Marrakech a licensed local guide leads the walking tour. Lunches, drinks, most entrance fees and tips are extra; the Morocco tour prices guide lists what each tour covers.
From $45 per person for a day trip to $2,950 for a long specialist tour, for two travellers sharing.
Day trips from Marrakech and Fes cost $45 to $230 per person, two- and three-day tours $250 to $430, four- and five-day desert tours $540 to $690, and tours of a week or more $1,090 to $2,950, depending on length and hotel standard. A one-way route costs more than a loop, because the vehicle has to return. Drivers are usually tipped 150 to 200 MAD a day, paid at the end; see the money and tipping guide.
Self-drive works on the motorways; a driver makes sense for the mountain passes, the desert and the medinas.
Renting a car is cheaper and flexible, and the motorways between Casablanca, Rabat, Fes and Marrakech are easy. The Tizi n'Tichka pass, the long desert roads and the last tracks to Erg Chigaga are tiring, parking near the medinas is difficult, and a driver-guide adds context along the way. Our guide to driving in Morocco compares the two in detail.

Yes. With a private driver the day can change with the weather or your pace.
We are not a reseller: our drivers, guides and camp partners are contracted directly, which is why itineraries can change mid-trip when weather or your pace requires it. Before you travel, you can sketch your own route day by day in the trip planner, and our team turns it into a quote.
Choose a tour or plan your own route, send the request, and our team replies with a day-by-day plan and a price.
Pick a tour from all private tours, or build a route in the trip planner. We reply with the itinerary, the vehicle and the hotels, and you only confirm once the plan suits you. For anything else, contact us.
