Ourika Valley Day Trip from Marrakech
Amazigh villages, an argan cooperative and a guided walk to the Setti Fatma waterfalls in the High Atlas

Tour Overview
This Ourika Valley day trip from Marrakech is a private, full-day trip of about 130 km into the High Atlas. You follow the Ourika river past Amazigh (Berber) villages, stop at an argan cooperative and a traditional earthen house, and walk to the Setti Fatma waterfalls with a local guide from the valley.
The valley begins about an hour from Marrakech, which makes it the easiest way to see the Atlas Mountains without a long drive. It is cooler than the city in summer, and the walk can be as short or as long as you like.
- Route: Marrakech → Tnine Ourika → Aghbalou → Setti Fatma → Marrakech
- Length: about 8 hours, with pickup at around 09:00 and return by about 17:00
- Start and end: pickup and drop-off at your riad or hotel in Marrakech
- Group: private, 1 to 6 travellers in one vehicle
- Price: from $70 per person, based on two travellers sharing. Prices are indicative: the final price is set once the day is personalised.
- Walking: the path to the first waterfall is short but steep, with rocks and river crossings on small bridges. Good shoes help; the higher falls are a longer climb.
- Best months: March to June and September to November. After heavy rain the river rises quickly, and your guide may shorten the walk.
- Customisable: add a cooking class, a longer hike or lunch with a village family.
Highlights
The Ourika river road: Drive up the valley past terraced fields, walnut trees and riverside cafés.

Tnine Ourika souk: On a Monday, walk through the valley's weekly market on the way up.

Detailed Itinerary
The Journey
"Your driver collects you at around 09:00 and crosses the Haouz plain toward the High Atlas. On Mondays you can walk through the weekly souk at Tnine Ourika. In the lower valley you stop at an argan cooperative, where women crack the nuts by hand, and at a traditional Amazigh house built of earth and stone for mint tea with the family."

The Journey
"The road follows the river through Aghbalou, past cafés with tables at the water's edge, to Setti Fatma, the last village on the road. A local guide walks with you up to the waterfalls. The path climbs over rocks and crosses the river on small bridges; the first waterfall is close to the village, and the higher falls take longer if you want to keep going."

The Journey
"Back in the village, have lunch at one of the riverside restaurants; tagine and grilled meat are the usual choices. In the afternoon your driver takes you back down the valley, stopping wherever you ask, and drops you at your riad or hotel in Marrakech at around 17:00."
