14 Day Morocco Itinerary: Two Weeks in Morocco, 2 Routes
Two tested two-week routes with a map, driving hours for every day, where to sleep and what it costs, from the Marrakech team that drives them.
Short answer
The best 14 day Morocco itinerary is a full circle from Casablanca: Tangier and Chefchaouen, Volubilis and Fes, two nights around Merzouga, the Dades Valley and Ait Benhaddou, three nights in Marrakech with a free day, then Essaouira and the Atlantic coast back to Casablanca. With return flights to Marrakech, spend the first week on the desert loop and the second based in Marrakech, with Essaouira and day trips to the mountains and waterfalls.
Each route below has a map, the driving hours for every day, the hotels our tours use and what it costs. We are a tour operator based in Marrakech and these are our own routes. For a shorter trip, see the 10 day Morocco itinerary.

Seeing the north, the desert, Marrakech and the coast
Two weeks covers the whole country. The real choice is between moving every day or two to see every region, and keeping one base in Marrakech with fewer hotel changes.
About 38 hours on the road for the grand tour and 40 for the Marrakech route, but spread over fourteen days with rest days in between. The longest days are the same as on shorter trips: crossing the Middle Atlas to the desert, and the Draa Valley back.

Private driver, self-drive, train or bus?
The train links Tangier, Rabat, Casablanca, Fes and Marrakech, so parts of Route 1 can be done by rail, but the desert, the Atlas and the coast need a car. On Route 2 the first week needs a driver or a rental; the second week works with day-trip drivers. See driving in Morocco for self-drive.

How to adapt the 14-day itinerary
Only 10 days?
Drop Tangier and the free days: Tangier to Casablanca via the Sahara still sees every region.
Two weeks of one-night stops wears anyone out. Keep two or three nights in Fes, Marrakech and Essaouira.
Back-to-back long drives
Fes to Merzouga and the Draa Valley days are 7 to 8 hours. Put a desert day or a city day after each one.
No free day
A day with nothing booked in Marrakech, for the Majorelle Garden, a hammam or a cooking class, is what people remember.
Packing only for the heat
Two weeks crosses the Rif, the Atlas and the desert: bring a warm layer for nights in the mountains and the dunes, even in spring.

14 day Morocco itinerary: your questions
Yes. Two weeks covers the whole country, the north, the imperial cities, the Sahara, Marrakech and the Atlantic coast, with five or six days that have no long drive.
The grand tour from Casablanca: Rabat and Tangier, Chefchaouen, Volubilis and Fes, two nights around Merzouga, the Dades Valley, Ait Benhaddou, Marrakech with a free day, Essaouira and the coast road back. It is our 14 Days Grand Morocco Tour.
Yes. Route 2 spends the first week on a desert loop from Marrakech, then two nights in Essaouira and day trips to Imlil, the Ouzoud waterfalls, the Ourika Valley and the Agafay desert, sleeping eight of the thirteen nights in the same riad.
Our private 14-day tour costs from $2,090 per person for two travellers sharing, with 13 nights included. Lunches add 100 to 120 MAD per person per meal and a driver-guide is usually tipped 150 to 200 MAD a day.
Two. The grand tour spends a night at a kasbah hotel near the dunes and a night at a luxury camp, with a full day by 4x4 around Merzouga in between.
Layers. A two-week route crosses the Rif, the Middle and High Atlas and the desert, so even in spring you need a warm layer for nights in the mountains and the dunes, plus covered shoulders and knees for the medinas.
March to May and September to November. In summer Tangier and Essaouira stay cool while the inland cities and the desert are very hot; in winter the Rif gets rain and desert nights drop close to freezing.
