Bab Mansour & Place el-Hedim

Begin at Place el-Hedim, the broad esplanade that separates the old medina from the imperial city, then walk directly toward Bab Mansour for the classic Meknes view. The experience is most rewarding in the late afternoon, when the monumental façade catches softer light and the square begins to fill with local families, vendors, and café life. Because viewing the gate and square is effectively free, this is an ideal first orientation walk before continuing into the souks or toward the nearby monuments of Moulay Ismail’s imperial city.
