The Palmeraie (The Palm Grove)

The Palmeraie is a palm oasis just north of Marrakech, planted in the 11th century by the Almoravid dynasty and irrigated by an underground network of khettaras still visible today. It spans thousands of hectares and over a hundred thousand date palms, and functions now as the city's resort district - private villas and boutique hotels sit behind terracotta walls along quiet, spaced-out roads.

Accommodation here is resort-style: pools, gardens, and spa facilities rather than a riad courtyard. Activities center on sunset camel rides, quad biking, horseback riding, and several golf courses with Atlas Mountain views. Dining is mostly inside the resorts themselves rather than standalone restaurants. This district suits families, golfers, and travelers who want a quiet resort base, with the Medina a day trip away rather than a walk from the door.
