MOROCCO DAYS TOURS ...

Bab Jdid

Bab Jdid

Bab Jdid, meaning "New Gate," was cut through the Marrakech ramparts later than the city's medieval gates, without their defensive bent-entrance design, to connect the old Medina with the newer districts to the west. Today it's the main link between the historic center and Hivernage, and it's the gate most travelers use to reach La Mamounia hotel, whose gardens sit just inside the walls. Traffic here is constant - horse-drawn carriages, taxis, and pedestrians all pass through. Photographers favor late afternoon, when the earthen walls catch the light against the tree-lined avenue outside.
