Drive the Tisdrine Switchbacks

Driving the Dadès Gorge road is the classic introduction to the valley’s dramatic geography. The route begins around Boumalne Dadès on the N10 before turning north into a corridor of red cliffs, river gardens, kasbahs, and small Amazigh settlements. The most photographed section is the Tisdrine switchback road, where tight hairpin bends climb above the gorge and reveal a striking view back across the canyon. The lower section is generally accessible in a normal vehicle, though mountain-road caution is still important, especially after rain or in winter conditions. Plan stops for viewpoints, tea terraces, and short walks rather than rushing the drive.
