Ras el-Maa
Ras el-Maa sits on the eastern edge of Chefchaouen’s old town and provides a natural counterpoint to the tight blue lanes of the Medina. Known for its spring and flowing water, the area has long served as a practical gathering place and a scenic pause on walks through the city. Visitors often arrive here after exploring El Onsar and the upper Medina, then continue uphill toward the Spanish Mosque viewpoint. The atmosphere is more open and local than the central plaza, with mountain air, water sounds, and views toward the Rif slopes shaping the experience. It is an excellent stop for travelers who want to connect the urban fabric of Chefchaouen with the natural landscape surrounding it. The area also works well as a transition point for sunset walks, short photography routes, and longer excursions toward the mountains. Because authoritative neighborhood boundary coordinates for this informal area couldn't be confirmed, the polygon field is left unavailable rather than guessed.
