Hilltop Viewpoint at Sunset

The hilltop walk above Aït Benhaddou is one of the most rewarding parts of the visit, especially in the late afternoon when the red earthen walls soften in the low light. From the upper agadir or viewpoint area, travelers can look back across the stacked houses of the ksar, the Ounila River, the modern village on the opposite bank, and the dry valley landscape beyond. No separate official viewpoint fee was verified, but sturdy shoes, water, and sun protection are recommended because the terrain is exposed. Sunset is widely favored by travelers for photography, though visitors should leave enough daylight to descend safely.
