Scenic Drive through Ziz Valley

A scenic drive through the Ziz Valley is the essential way to understand this southeastern Moroccan oasis corridor. The route follows the Oued Ziz through a changing landscape of cliffs, reservoir views, palm groves, fortified villages and desert-transition plains, with practical stops around the Ziz Gorges, Hassan Addakhil Dam, Meski, Aoufous and Erfoud. Self-driving gives the most freedom for photography and short walks, while a local driver or private tour is useful for travelers continuing toward Merzouga and Erg Chebbi.
