Walk the Gorge Narrows
Walk the narrowest tourist section of the canyon, where limestone walls rise up to about 300 meters above the Todra River.
About This Activity
Walking the Todra Gorge narrows is the simplest and most essential way to experience the canyon. The visit follows the road and riverbed through the most dramatic section, where sheer limestone walls rise above the valley and the passage tightens to only a few meters in places. Entry is generally described as free, making it one of the most accessible natural attractions in the eastern High Atlas. Travelers usually park near or beyond the main canyon section, then explore slowly on foot, stopping for photography, river views, and the changing colors of the rock. The walk is suitable for most visitors in dry conditions, but wet-season water levels can change the canyon floor quickly, so caution is advised. Early morning and late afternoon offer softer light, cooler temperatures, and fewer vehicles through the narrowest stretch.
