The Telouet and Ounila Valley detour turns the pass from a through-road into a cultural journey. Leaving the main N9 near the High Atlas crest, travelers can follow the secondary route toward Telouet, the former Glaoui stronghold, and continue through a narrow valley of villages, gardens, kasbahs and colorful geology. Access to Telouet Kasbah should be checked locally, as reports after the 2023 earthquake have noted structural damage and possible exterior-only viewing.
