The UNESCO-listed ksar near Ouarzazate preserves the mud-brick fortified architecture of southern Morocco and sits close to the old trade routes that connected the High Atlas with the pre-Saharan south. General access to the ksar is widely reported as free, though individual houses, rooms or local guiding may involve small optional charges.
