Anchor Point
Anchor Point is the defining landmark of Taghazout’s surf identity and one of the most widely recognized waves on Morocco’s Atlantic coast. Located near the northern edge of the village, it is known for a long, powerful right-hand point break that performs best during the stronger autumn and winter swells. The wave is repeatedly described as an advanced spot, making it better suited to experienced surfers than beginners. For visitors who do not surf at that level, Anchor Point still offers a compelling coastal viewpoint, with surfers lining up along the point, whitewater wrapping the rocks, and the village atmosphere unfolding nearby. The site reflects the transformation of Taghazout from a modest Berber fishing village into an internationally known surf destination. Its appeal is not architectural or ceremonial like a historic gate in an imperial city; it is cultural, natural, and deeply tied to the ocean. Photographers and surf spectators often come for the late-afternoon light, when the Atlantic horizon and rocky coastline create one of the most recognizable scenes in Taghazout.
