Upper Falls Viewpoint
The Upper Falls Viewpoint is the classic introduction to Ouzoud, offering the first sweeping look at Morocco’s famous multi-tier cascades. From this higher area, visitors can appreciate the scale of the waterfall system, commonly described as about 110 meters high and falling in three tiers into the gorge below. The atmosphere is lively during the middle of the day, when organized tours arrive from Marrakech, but it can feel more spacious early in the morning or later in the afternoon. This zone is especially valuable for photography, as the vantage points reveal the contrast between falling water, red-toned cliffs, natural pools, and surrounding olive groves. Cafés and small shops are often found near the upper approach, making it a convenient place to gather supplies before beginning the descent. Exact boundaries for the viewpoint area are not published, so it should be mapped only as an approximate visitor zone. It is ideal for travelers with limited mobility who may not want to complete the full descent, as well as for photographers seeking broad compositions of the cascades from above.
