Tajeguite and Assaka (Scenic Villages)
The Tajeguite and Assaka section represents the scenic heart of Ounila Valley, where the road narrows into a landscape of red and ochre rock, cultivated green plots, and small Amazigh villages. These places are not formal tourist districts, but they are among the most memorable pauses on the Telouet to Aït Ben Haddou back road. Travelers come here for the contrasts that make the valley famous: dry cliffs above irrigated gardens, earthen houses blending into the slopes, and a road that reveals the older rhythm of the caravan corridor. The experience is best approached slowly. Short roadside stops, gentle walks, and photography are more suitable than rushed sightseeing, particularly because village space remains residential and agricultural. There are no major monuments comparable to Aït Ben Haddou or Telouet Kasbah, but the living landscape gives context to the history of trade, settlement, and adaptation in southern Morocco. This section is ideal for photographers, road-trip travelers, and visitors who want to understand the valley beyond its headline kasbahs.
